With our eye on the weather app, we carefully chose the only day that was predicted to reach 80* at the coast and headed over with sack lunches, pails and sand shoes! It has been a long time since we have been to the ocean. And the beach is always best with Grandchildren.
No one would expect to find any formal, secret garden to make an appearance in this slightly wild, slightly managed beautiful Oregon rain forest! But after one leaves the lodge on the river and hot springs where we like to stay, crossing a sturdy bridge over the McKenzie river, then wanders for some distance on lovely, woodsy paths....
this is what you come upon.
You enter a magical, formal English garden through this opening that is a completely delightful surprise! ( Anyway it was for us the first time we found it and we still marvel.) We seldom see anyone else here which makes it feel more mysterious in a way. The garden has a circular design with water features, curved stone walls, trimmed Boxwood hedges and ancient looking pillars.
