Fort Stevens Oregon, and Astoria

Our camping trip to Fort Stevens included an array of activities. Truly something for everyone;
a nearby beach with an old sunken sailing ship, bike trails, hiking trails, lots of military history at the Fort, Sunday market and shops in Astoria, the usual eating way too much, and last but not least sitting around the blazing campfire consuming s'mores. (I almost omitted the huge and ravenous mosquitoes. Not really unexpected this time of year.) Also a Nice time with family and friends.

Humming Bird

The time for sitting on the patio, camera poised, in the early morning light, to possibly capture a humming bird photo. I was checking my focus on these flowers when the hummer literally appeared  in my view finder. Right there, perfectly in focus. Magic. He didn't stay more than two seconds while I snapped three shots.Then he was gone as quickly as he came.

The War Birds Visit Corvallis...

and we visit the "war birds". They come once a year. The B-24, B-17, and the P-51.
This time Levi, Luke and Leif and I got a chance to go through them, sharing in one of Poppy's enthusiasms. A little research done ahead of time makes it today's history field trip.
Shannon brought Rilla to take a look. Maybe all babies love airplanes but she seems especially taken with them.
