Butterfly Child

I'm never very successful at getting good pictures of Lola when she's here. {True butterflies are quite illusive too don't you know.}

  She doesn't like to look at the camera as her Mom can also attest. I was, however, successful,{ha} at getting little pigtails in her hair {while she was distracted at the sink with water running, an apple to eat and cup cake pans to play in}. She left the pigtails in *for a while*, touching them occasionally, and looking in mirrors whenever possible. Good thing I got pictures to prove it though because they were long gone by the time her mom came to pick her up!

 Of course I had nothing else that I was trying to do while she was here. Her mother seldom has that luxury at home though. Wow I don't know how Heidi does it. This gal is a dynamo. Never a dull moment, {And Heidi already has 3 other dynamos!}

Alchemy

is a good word for what Ilex and I experience every Thursday noon when we get together at a coffee shop {right now in Rays Market , till we can sit outside again at Starbucks} to read this fascinating book on science in history. One of three in a series produced by Smithsonian Institute. We have coffee or mocha, talk about things that are important in life{or not so} and get a chapter or two read  together in this book. Wow, I think that's definitely *transforming something common into something precious*. And yes Alchemy was part of the title of this week's chapter.{I feel brainy just being around Ilex. She is smart and Beautiful! Alchemy again?}
 I love spending time one on one with our grandchildren, doing with each what is just right for them. Lately you'd think I only had one grand daughter though. Sorry Ilex, Ivy and Lola.

 

Frills, First Smiles; Angel Dust

My dear friend Debi came for tea today.

Shannon and Rilla joined the party all decked out in frilly finery for the occasion, and Rilla must have felt it a truly fitting time to bring on the best and brightest first smiles!

I probably needn't state the obvious; we were enchanted.{and got pictures!}

Just Can't Stop Myself

The rosy blush of newness and "inloveness" won't wear off any time soon, I'm thinking, so be prepared to see a lot more photos of Rilla and her adorable Mom and Dad who's hearts just can't quite take it all in yet.
