Living Lovely With Family, Yearly Traditions

Work & Play

This is the real secret of life - to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now.And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.
~ Alan Watts, Work as Play~

Have regular hours for work and play; make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well. Then youth will be delightful, old age will bring few regrets, and life become a beautiful success, in spite of poverty.

Re-creating the South American tradition of "asado" at the annual get- together with my husbands family on the river.

Just a few great oldies I came up with while thinking about yearly traditions in our family. Saving the actual vacations for next week.

What a blast from the past! :) I can't think of anything more sure than death, taxes, and snapping green beans... Ha! Oh, and bucking hay and family reunion.... Family reunion and asado are by far the most enjoyable. :)

I think I'm going to bed now and waiting until tomorrow to get my linky up. I shouldn't have watched both American Idol *and* Lie to Me. Oh, well.

As always, you're an inspiration. I love that I happened upon Heidi's and your blogs ... what a daily treat to see what you're up to out West... I love the Alan Watts quote and added it to my blog. Thanks for sharing!

I've so enjoyed your blog these past few weeks-- pictures from days gone by are simply the best :) And proof, that over time, what's truly important in life never changes!

I also wanted to thank you for a great reminder--several weeks ago Heidi shared (in a post) something you're always reminding *her*-- that when kids melt down, you can usually pinpoint 1 of 3 reasons-- hunger, exhaustion, or a potty need. And you know what?? You're so right! Those words keep ringing through my ears when that sort of behavior is displayed around here, and I'm usually able to take care of it much more quickly now with that thought in mind. So thank you... thank you for sharing your wisdom!

And have a wonderful weekend :)
